Nastygal Haul Part Two // Adventures

HeLLo EverYBOdy! (say it in the voice of Dr. Nick from the Simpsons and it all makes sense)

Today I went on an adventure.
The plan was to go to a swimming hole in Springbrook, but life decided to throw us a curve ball.
We ended up tired and hungry at the end of the road, on top of a mountain.
It was chilly and foggy, and we wandered.
We skipped from rock to boulder to rock.
Then we came to what looked like the edge of the earth.
It was a sheer vertical drop where the creek suddenly plummeted into endless fog.
It was breathtaking.

On the topic of adventures: I'm going sky diving on Monday at a beach in Redcliffe!

Aight let's hop into the clothes I acquired from Nastygal YAY

Lippies used: Lime Crime 'Glamour 101' with a cheap priceline lip stain on top

Officially my fave, I leave them in my bag now.

Nastygal Haul Part One // An Epiphany

HAY HAY
This week we takin' things to the next level.
Go deep with Connie Li.

A Realisation:
1. Happiness = Success
I feel I need to elaborate on this one, so I'm not giving off the wrong idea.
The Oxford Dictionary of English defines success as "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose".
So now you know I do not refer merely to fame or wealth when speaking of success.
It can be anything.
Success for me:
- Purchasing a gift which perfectly reflects the person you are buying for (no pic for this cos it's still a surprise).
- Getting in the newspaper, wearing the cheesiest smile you ever smiled.

- Looking down at the world from a high place. There is something very REAL about moments like these, I guess that's why people enjoy sightseeing. I recommend the Byron Bay rooftop near the lighthouse.

- When your nails dry fabulously and flawlessly. (CAN'T FIND MY GOOD PICS SORRY)

To be happy is to succeed.
To succeed is to be happy.

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

- John Lennon

Another success?
ACQUIRING CLOTHES
My Sunnies and Garter Leggings are new from nastygal, they have some insane sales going on which make me very very happy.

Lime Crime Lipstick in "Mint To Be"
The packaging alone has led me to buy four of their lipsticks and two eyeliners.

These leggings are so badass I swear mothers cover their child's eyes when I strut past.

Note: it's essential to add colour to an all black outfit.

Blackpepper

Hello my little buttercups

These past few weeks have been an epic start to my uni holidays.
I've decided partying is nearly as exhausting as studying.
From experience I find that the summer holidays always seem like an endless period of time during which you can neatly accomplish everything you couldn't amidst your studies.
The fact of the matter is I spend:
30% of my time watching the TV shows I've hoarded throughout the year;
20% catching up with the friends I've neglected;
30% working (being exploited);
10% eating, etc.
Which leaves approximately 10% of my holidays to actually accomplishing things.
When I realised this after 13 years of education I decided enough was enough and I've compiled a Holiday Bucket List:
(Contributed to by Kerry)
- Skinny dip
- Rock climb at Kangaroo Point
- Run to the top of Mt Cootha
- Go to the Casino
- Segway around Brisbane
- Learn to sew
- Get cornrows
- Sex and the City marathon
- Road Trips!!! (Sandon River, Whitsundays, Great Barrier Reef, The Quarrie, Tangalooma, Straddie, Coolangatta, Byron, Cairns)
- Cook a recipe, borrow cooking books from lib
- Start a Youtube Channel
- Draw my next tattoo
- Enter a gameshow (big brother etc)
- Learn to surf
- Volunteer at a homeless shelter

There were more inappropriate (but hilarious) ones which I left out.

Onto the photoschmotos!

Cats For Days

Currently cramming like a madman for finals, doing this lil blog post as procrastination.
As usual I've had way too much coffee to concentrate on one thing (my textbook) for extended periods of time.
Today marks the fourth day in a row I've been a hermit in my house studying for Chinese and Sociology finals.
The days are taking their toll:
- Pretty sure I've gained a good couple kilos procrastin-eating.
- My lower body feels like jelly from being glued in sitting position.
- Eyesight is blurring.
- Been two days since I've changed clothes.
- I look like the guy from Cast Away.

Here's my outfit from last week, l8ers

Shirt (which I'm wearing as a dress) from Omighty
A disclaimer: Omighty products are great I love them all, but their shipping and service is the most ridiculous shit I have ever experienced. On THREE occasions when I ordered the shit was nearly THREE MONTHS late, and I got no compensation, only bitchy emails. I'm done shopping with this brand, but I won't stop ya if you're willing to wait aeons for a shirt.

Fishnets from Ebay

Lipstick is "Shocking Pink" by Barry M
The pictures don't show it but it is 100% NEON pink

Weirdly close shot of my face soz

Tie dye socks my lovely friend Chi (aka Chizzle) hand dyed for me ^.^

Walkin' On Sunshine

Sozzles for not updating in ages!
I've had stuff going on, but mostly I was just lazy.

I'm going thorough a strange time in my life when everything seems to be going steadily up.
Not like everything is perfect, more like positive little things are happening all around me.
  • I finished my Journalism final after some hardcore people chasing.
  • I went to the country over the weekend for a little getaway, and I got tanned hallelujah!
  • I got my P's.
  • I started pole dancing classes; on my way to fit and toned.
  • I have a steady tradition of watching Ja'mie on wednesdays and Beauty and the Geek on thursdays.
  • I got a crapload of piercings on my left ear.
Those are a few things that made me happy this week, and I hope you all have something to smile about too!

This is a quick WIWT post
I'll see ya after SWOTVAC (Uni exams)!

Crop tee: American Apparel knockoff from Ebay

Denim Skirt: City Beach years ago
(Quick note on denim skirts- these things are timeless and resilient, you're pretty much guaranteed they will never go out of style. Invest.)

Neon yellow belt: ASOS

All my rings are from The Silver Shop (the one combined with piercing planet in Brisbane City)

Lipstick: BYS
(This colour is unforgiving on chapped lips)
(But I love it)

Found a cute lil Cicada shell on the tree I was posing next to!

Photographic Diary of My Hair Dye Adventures

HELLO FRANDS
So the title probably gave everything away but, yes, this is a post about all the colours I've dyed my hair, including brief reviews of each colour!
I guess this idea blossomed when I was on the plane to Sydney and the girl next to me asked me what dye I used. Just to clarify I LOVE it when people ask me questions like this, it's the ultimate conversation starter, I can go on talking forever.

Overall, this was very fun to compile, all the photos are basically selfies I've taken over the past year, and here they are for your entertainment.
I hope this clears up some queries ya'll have about the process of changing hair colour.

When you put it into perspective, this point in my life is really the only time I can do this crazy shit to my hair, think about it:
- I've graduated so the school can't be up my ass about it.
- Uni is a great time for self expression and discovery.
- I don't have a job that requires me to look like a corporate slave (yet).

So whether you want to join the goth scene, piss off your parents, or just want a change of scenery:
I say go for it.

This was my starter kit. I can't remember individual prices but all 5 dyes added up to $77. ALL FROM EBAY DON'T BUY THEM ANYWHERE ELSE YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF!
Left to right, up then down:
"Sonic Green" by Special Effects
"Bright Daffodil" by Directions
"Pillarbox Red" by Manic Panic
"Carnation Pink" by Directions
"Lagoon Blue" by directions

Oh I forgot to mention this before but you MUST bleach your hair if it isn't blonde, otherwise none of these dyes will work. It's like trying to colour in a black piece of paper, it ain't gonna happen kids.
I mixed 30 vol creme developer & powder bleach. You can get this from priceline for a good price!
Also, through a lot of experimentation I found I had to bleach my hair twice (leaving it in for about an hour each time) to get a decent light blonde.
The lighter the hair, the more vivid the colour.

The first one I tried was "Carnation Pink"

A good, solid medium pink colour. Gotta be one of my faves.

It fades into a dusky pink after about 2 weeks.

I usually wait a month before I dye again, by then the colour is more-or-less completely gone.

Pink: Round two
Not gonna lie, it's a messy, boring and annoying process.

The second time I went pink, the colour was visibly more vivid, it looked neon pink irl.

Note: dip dye hair looks insane in a high pony.

Fading is such a bitch, someone should invent permanent stuff.

After the pink washed out after the second month, I felt a change was necessary:
This was a mix of "Lagoon Blue", a TINY bit of "Sonic Green" and some white toner.

As you can see my dip dye was getting grown out, there was barely any blonde left to dye.

This colour had the worst staying power out of everything.

Faded to this weird ass colour in under 2 weeks.

I had no blonde left to dye, so gotta keep bleaching:

After one bleaching session and I look like a golden retriever.

Just keep bleaching

While I was deciding what colour to go next I played around with some temporary rinse off hair colour, this stuff you can get from priceline.
Warning: stains clothes hardcore.

Third colour: I wanted a bright green
Mixed "Sonic Green" with "Bright Daffodil" about 50/50

Ignore the tag still on my clothes haha
It fades into a really pretty pastel/mint green

But then into ugly dead grass green haha

I wanted to see what the "Sonic Green" looked like on its own:

It's very pretty but very dark, would recommend for lighter hair.

Lastly, I did this the other week
"Pillarbox Red"
Unless you like the colour of period, don't buy this shit.
